Seymour Arm celebrated Canada 150 in an event which exceeded all expectations. The sun shone as well over 300 people participated in the parade, the official ceremonies, the hot dog lunch featuring the Gift of Canada cake and the Canadiana concert featuring Birchbark. It was truly a community first and the highlight of 2017.
SACA launched this updated website in June 2017.
Regular SACA board meetings were held throughout the year.
SACA continued liaison with BC Parks and CSRD Parks staff regarding area park plans and improvements, and the CSRD with regard to status of the wharf and future planning as well as with the Department of Highways regarding Seymour Arm roads.
Successful grant applications, completions and disbursements included:
1. Heritage Canada (Government of Canada) re: Canada150
2. BC Boating re: wharf maintenance and repairs.
Planning and support towards community initiatives including the Summer Sizzler weekend, the New Year’s Eve celebration as well as other community events.
The Summer Sizzler weekend was more successful than in recent years and “Seymour Saturday Night” designed for families was once again very well attended.
The Seymour Arm Fire Hall Structure was stabilized and sheeted. Gratitude is extended for generous community and regional donations.
